Watercolor Figurative Painting - Delbar Shahbaz

This workshop explores painting and drawing techniques while working from pictures of human poses. We will focus on painting figures of people from different races and ethnicities and learn how to paint a variety of skin tones. Color theory, linear perspective, compositional structure, figure/ground relationships, and visual perception will all be emphasized. Students will be able to use watercolor and gouache techniques such as wash, wet into wet and dry brush.

DELBAR SHAHBAZ (she/her) is a Los Angeles based artist, originally from Iran. She received her first MFA degree from Art University in Tehran in 2008 and for the past ten years has pursued a career as a professional artist and educator. In 2013, Delbar moved to the United States. She received her second MFA from ArtCenter College of Design and has worked at ArtCenter as part-time faculty since 2016. Delbar has exhibited in her work in Los Angeles, Tehran, London, Chicago, Montreal and New York. As an educator, she is dedicated to helping her students foster their enthusiasm and passion for the artwork they create.
