Students will create theme-driven projects and learn various techniques and tools to create 2-D design pieces. The workshop will culminate in an art show at the Bodecker Foundation building that students will collaboratively install and promote. No previous design experience necessary! Come explore design with COMMA! @psugd_comma

COMMA Instructors:

Steph Blanco (she/they) is a designer, artist, and dancer originally from New York and currently located in Portland, OR. Their identities make them both privileged and marginalized. Steph’s focus in design is typography, 2D and 3D animation, and page layout. While dancing they often express thoughts and feelings by making letter forms with their body. Currently, they are enjoying learning how to DJ, eating good food, and just having some fun with friends.

Nia Musiba (she/they) is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Portland, Oregon. Her identity as an African American woman and the daughter of a Tanzanian immigrant influences her art and her discovery of Black history. She specializes in murals, community-based work, and workshops, with an interest in publications, collaborations, and large-scale projects.

Zee Leonard (they/them) is a Black designer, archivist, and printmaker based in Portland, OR. The areas of design they are most focused on are 3D illustration, character design, and early internet history. Their practice is heavily informed by creative play and research, and outside of design you can find them playing games, watching cartoons, or fiddling around with old technology.

Leeahnn VIctorio (she/her) is a practicing Filipina designer and artist based in Portland. She loves experimenting with anything, especially with forms and concepts. In her free time, she plays games and watches various movies and shows.
